We’re the public arm of the long-established sailing charity that has been instilling resilience in local primary-aged children since 1997. Trevassack Lake is now our HQ and is fully open to the public for getting out on the water, staying for holidays or just frequenting our lakeside cafe.
Children’s Sailing Trust has always had the mission to harness opportunities on and in the water that help children develop their character and their potential.
Trevassack Lake was specifically designed to expand the charity’s scope to children with SEND with our research revealing unexpectedly high levels of such a community, meaning so many young people were missing out through no fault of their own.
It was the vision of Children’s Sailing Trust that the old Serpentine Quarry, now naturally flooded through freshwater springs, become a safe and fully accessible Centre of Excellence for sailing and watersports.
In line with the charity’s core aims, Trevassack was to be a community hub for all ages and abilities, with facilities open to the public in order to provide a sustainable income that would secure the future of charitable work for local children.
Book online or drop in to set sessions ranging from weekly open water swims, to hiring paddleboards or kayaks, katakanus and sailing dinghies, joining multi-activity sessions or taster days – you can even self-launch by bringing your own craft to test the water, practice to gain confidence or simply enjoy the stunning location safely (and pollution-free!).
We welcome all ages and abilities, with mobility aids available to help anyone and everyone get out on (or in!) the water.
Whether you’re relaxing after water-based fun or just watching family members out getting wet, our cafe is open 7 days a week from 930am to 230pm for brilliant brunches or artisan coffee with homemade cake – all non profit supporting the charity.
With free parking and plentiful, fully accessible spaces indoor and out, we are able to hold community events here, to raise much-needed funds. Events such as craft fayres and live music, workshops and well-being days.
We have a unique indoor and outdoor space here that we want to share! If you need a beautiful space for birthday parties, meetings, family gatherings or conferences, you can hire our dual aspect function room by the hour, or even hire the beach or the lake itself! We can even arrange whole site takeovers for weddings or corporate events.
