Get Beach Ready with Lake Safety

News reports are saying that in the last five years Paddleboard rescues by the RNLI have increased from four or five per season, 5 years ago, to an almost daily occurrence!
Trevassack lake near Helston might have the perfect answer.
There are four main ways you could benefit from our safe location and expert staff, to gain knowledge and experience before venturing on to the currents, wind and waves of the sea. And not just for holiday visitors but locals alike.
1) Self Launch
Firstly, if you have your own board or kayak (solid or inflatable), you can launch your equipment on our picturesque still waters and practice your balance, paddling and falling off knowing the professionals are on hand if you’re out of your depth. (We can offer hints and tips if required.) Wetsuits (limited adult sizes) and buoyancy aids are available to hire (BA must be worn please).
£5 per person per half day (3 hours)

2) Pay and Play
Secondly, you can rent a board or kayak from us by the hour, which includes a buoyancy aid and wetsuit. We will talk you through the basics and then send you afloat to discover the freedom of the water for yourself.
£15 per person per hour

3) Taster Session
Thirdly, you could join one of our 2 hour paddlesport taster sessions, where a small group will be taught how to balance, the best ways to paddle, how to avoid falling off too often and how to get back on the board safely!
£25 per person per session

4) Private Lessons
Fourthly, we can offer one-to-one hour long lessons with an instructor for £50 or a family session (up to 4 people) for £80.
This allows us to focus on individual tuition and your specific needs.

With all these options we are happy to chat with you about beach safety and paddleboard/sea kayak safety in particular.
You never know, you might find you love Trevassack Lake (and its lakeside café) so much, you come back time after time! After all there are no jellyfish, face-splashing waves, unpredictable currents, sewage outlets…sharks?! Just our beautiful springwater filled, 10 acre lake with modern changing facilities, hot showers, experienced supervision and everything is fully accessible for those with additional needs.
Swimwear safety
When swimming in our lake, if you are attempting the longer course around the edge of the lake we request you wear a brightly coloured swim hat or tow float – this is in addition to our lifeguards being on the water with you, which emphasises the importance of being seen.
If you are in an unsupervised location or at the beach, it is vital to be visible.
